SOUL HYPE

The Lord has been talking to me about this (to talk to all of you) for awhile.  There are no articles about this, no specific way to "google" it - it is not something you can do a "search" on at your favorite on-line bible scripture site....it is something that you have to sit at the feet of Jesus to learn about.

What IS soul hype?  What does this have to do with God?

Well, actually it has NOTHING to do with GOD.  BUT it is something charismatic evangelical etc preachers USE - it is a STYLE of preaching - that has nothing to do with teaching truth or holiness or humility.

We all know that our "soul" is mind, will and emotions.

HYPE: means "to stimulate, excite, agitate, create, exaggerate; to gain interest by using flamboyant dramatic methods; in many cases it is considered a "trick" - however when preaching is concerned the Lord has said it is not necessarily a "trick" but it IS a method designed by MAN that has NOTHING to do with Jesus.

You know - just watch Rod Parsley.  Watch so many preachers.  Their tone inflection, their voices rising and falling, changing vocal intonation - maybe parading back and forth, dropping the microphone, standing with arms outstretched.  Jumping up on the furniture.  Saying things like, "I'm gonna go on the other side of the room they're acting better..."  TRYING TO ELICIT a specific response from the listeners.  I've heard Joyce Meyer (not flamboyant but dramatic - say things like "I'm preaching better than you're acting" - and then the people cheer and applaud).

DO YOU HEAR WHAT IS BEING SAID HERE?

It is a style of preaching used to hype - pump up - almost like a pep rally at a football game - - - i even hear preachers saying that if you DO NOT jump and shout and run and scream you have "lost the fire" or "are in sin".

THIS is the style of preaching of Rod Parsley.  Even his substitute preacher guy named Manny - preached the EXACT SAME WAY - it was overly dramatic theatrics.

i cannot even imagine Jesus preaching the sermon on the mount using these styles of preaching.

THE WORD draws.  HOLY SPIRIT draws.  PREACH FROM THE HEART.  PREACH FROM HUMILITY!  PREACH from that place where you have basked in His presence, His glory, and come out with your face aglow and your words humbled and awed!

The Lord had me email Sister Dee in Africa - she and i were talking about soul hype in "christian" music and preaching way back in 2009 - i couldn't find that email so i wrote to her and she prayed and responded thus:

"There have been many exposes of soul hype in the church but I don't have any on my computer so I can only do as you and Google it and go to where the Lord leads...BUT MY SIS THE PEOPLE WON'T HEAR YOU..THEY HAVE BEEN DEAF AND BLIND AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE SO..UNLESS THE LORD GIVES YOU THE WORDS BY HIS SPIRIT TO SPEAK TO A FEW..IT IS SICKENING..FATHER I PRAY IN THE NAME OF JESUS THAT YOU LEAD RHONDA TO THOSE YOU WOULD CALL OUT FROM UNDER THE HARLOT CHURCH AND GIVE THE WORDS TO SPEAK AND THAT THE PEOPLE WILL HEAR YOU LORD.
BLESSINGS" ~DEE

THEN the Lord just had me google it (a few minutes ago) and led me to an amazing article by J. Lee Grady (Editor of Charisma Magazine) about this subject (sort of) - a few of his defining comments:

"Some American preachers today wow their crowds with dramatic stories, film clips, trendy graphics and motivational hype. It sounds good initially. But sometimes, after the applause, we realize it was just a bunch of ear candy. What we need in today’s pulpits is less scripted sparkle and more messy, raw, honest, tear-stained pleas from broken men and women who are aflame with the Holy Spirit. Rams’ horns came from animals that had been sacrificed. Only consecrated preachers who have died to self can preach a message that will bring down a spiritual wall."

"What we need in today’s pulpits is less glitz and polish and more gut-level honesty."
(J. Lee Grady - Charisma magazine)

Beloved - don't get sucked in.  Ask Jesus to SHOW YOU HIS TRUTH IN ALL THINGS - from the church you are going to, to the style of preaching therein.  AND adding this here - do NOT LET JUST ANYONE LAY HANDS ON YOU - you have NO IDEA what their belief systems are - NONE - and there is a transference of SPIRITS by the laying on of hands.  Good grief last year at the pool i had been "missed" after not being there while sick - and a lady came up to me and asked where i'd been - the Lord allowed me to tell her and she started to lay hands on me - and prayed to MARY mother of JESUS.  It seriously hurt her feelings when i asked her to get her hands off of me (it wasn't quite that blunt) - but Mary was just a woman NOT someone we are commanded to pray to!

This is NOT nit-picking.  There is a holy, righteous, awesome Jesus who asks us to YIELD OURSELVES unto HIM so that HE can preach THROUGH US.  He doesn't need flamboyant ways - He doesn't need you to whoop and shout and dramatically orate to keep people interested (or from falling asleep).  HIM THROUGH US - Jesus, the SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY AND FOREVER.

Just let Him speak.
Look for those who JUST let HIM speak.

We ONLY need the Holy Ghost.

God bless.
